SUMMARY:Cycle Around the Globe 2025
DESCRIPTION:Suicide is a major public health problem with far-reaching social\, emotional and economic consequences. It is estimated that there are currently more than 700\,000 suicides per year worldwide\, and we know that each suicide profoundly affects many more people. Suicide remains a critical global issue\, affecting individuals and communities worldwide.\nIASP’s World Suicide Prevention Day event\, Cycle Around the Globe\, is back for the eleventh year running to raise awareness of suicide prevention worldwide. Cycle Around the Globe is a virtual event; for anyone\, anywhere in the world to participate by taking part in physical activity. \nFrom World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September) until World Mental Health Day (10 October) 2025\, we are asking you to cycle\, walk or run to help us work together to prevent suicide. Our goal is to enable global participation\, which is why the event is entirely free to join\, and fundraising is optional. \nIASP leads the global effort in suicide prevention\, and this event offers a meaningful way to raise awareness during World Suicide Prevention Day and the lead-up to World Mental Health Day. \nBy cycling and sharing your journey\, you contribute to changing the narrative on suicide\, inspiring open conversations\, and breaking down stigma. Together\, we can foster understanding\, build supportive communities\, and encourage action at all levels—individuals\, organizations\, and governments—toward a world where suicide is preventable.

SUMMARY:Letters I Didn't Send - 24 hour Livestream
DESCRIPTION:Hello\,  I am a lyricist who uses AI to bring my words to life. I have recently completed an Album called “Change the Narrative” based on the current theme of World Suicide Prevention Day. I have released the title track (https://youtu.be/ncZjnIcaZNA) with the full album being released on September 10th. The reason I am reaching out is to talk about September 10th. I will be hosting a 24-hour livestream where the music from the album will be played\, and just have a space for anyone who wants to come hang out\, talk\, and just not be alone.  The livestream link will be posted to the changethenarrativeevent.com when it is available. Also available on the site is a wall where people can share their stories of how suicide has impacted their lives. Whether it is the thoughts of taking their own life or how the suicide of a family member or friend affected them.

SUMMARY:Black & White for ‘For Men To Talk’
DESCRIPTION:On World Suicide Prevention Day – 10 September 2025\, we’re inviting schools\, workplaces\, sports clubs\, and communities to take part in a powerful movement: Black & White for ‘For Men To Talk’. It’s about making it OK for men to talk.\n\n‘For Men To Talk’ is a Community Interest Company (CIC) founded to provide safe\, supportive spaces for men suffering with anxiety\, depression\, and grief. Through in-person meetings\, virtual groups\, walking sessions\, and even fishing\, men are given the chance to connect with others who understand — and start breaking the silence around mental health.\n\nBlack and White represent the extremes that many men silently shift between — from isolation to connection\, from despair to hope. Black and white symbolises that mental health isn’t always visible\, and that many suffer behind smiles\, jokes\, and masks.\n\nWhether you’re at school\, work\, or home\, dress in black and white as a symbol of solidarity. Asking for a suggested donation of £1

SUMMARY:Long San Youth Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Programme
DESCRIPTION:Long San is a settlement in the interior of the Baram District of Miri Division\, and SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai is the main residential secondary school. This school serves the indigenous communities in the area and surrounding settlements. \nThe Miri Division Health Office\, along with Hospital Miri\, is conducting this selective prevention programme at this secondary school for the youth and teachers in an underserved area. \nThe aims of this programme is to encourage awareness of their own health\, including coping and risk behaviours\, to promote better self-care among the youth. The programme comprises a series of didactic and hands-on activities for the young people\, ranging from topics of physical and mental health\, gatekeeper skills and coping strategies. There is a concurrent programme for teachers on stress management at work and helping young people in crisis. \nThe programme will be evaluated for acceptability and effectiveness. We hope that our aims tie in with the overarching theme of changing the narrative for World Suicide Prevention Day.

SUMMARY:World Sucide Prevention Day 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Wellness Club\, SRM University AP\, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology and the Wellness Center\, is organizing Suicide Prevention Day 2025 from 8th to 10th September 2025. With the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide”\, this three-day program aims to spread awareness\, encourage open conversations\, and foster hope among students and the community. \nThe event begins on Day 1 with Essay and Poetry Competitions. The essay competition\, titled “Creating Hope Through Action”\, invites students to present original ideas within 800–1000 words\, written in 90 minutes. The poetry contest\, “Voices of Hope”\, will allow participants to express their reflections in any style\, limited to 30 lines\, composed within 60 minutes. These creative expressions serve as a platform for young minds to articulate positive perspectives on mental health and suicide prevention. \nDay 2 focuses on Campaign Activities designed to engage students interactively. The Hope Wall Campaign will feature palm imprints around the word “HOPE\,” creating a collaborative awareness display. A Pledge Wall will invite participants to share affirmations and supportive messages. The Face Painting Booth will use symbolic designs like the semicolon and yellow ribbon to spread awareness visually. The day will also host a Workshop on Suicide Prevention\, equipping participants with practical knowledge and strategies to support peers in distress. \nOn Day 3\, the program culminates with an Awareness Drive and Closing Ceremony. The morning drive will include the distribution of yellow ribbons\, helpline pamphlets\, and video messages across campus. A Panel Discussion on “Suicide Prevention in Educational Institutions” will bring experts together to share insights and solutions. The event concludes with a Valedictory Program featuring cultural performances\, prize distribution\, and a vote of thanks. \nAll participants will receive E-certificates and exciting prizes\, making this initiative both meaningful and motivating.

SUMMARY:World Suïcide Preventie Week (WSPW) - The Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:From 8 to 14 September\, the Netherlands marks World Suicide Prevention Week (WSPW) — a week devoted to raising extra awareness about suicide prevention. Sadly\, this remains urgently needed: every 45 seconds\, someone\, somewhere in the world\, dies by suicide. In the Netherlands\, suicide claims the lives of more than 1\,850 people every year\, which equals five lives every day. These numbers will only go down if we do this together.   \nFinding the words.\nTalking about suicide isn’t easy\, and searching for the right words can be difficult — but it can make a life-changing difference to someone struggling with suicidal thoughts. How do you start that conversation? What words do you use? It may take courage and some searching. That’s why this week we call on everyone: find the words. Because with words\, we can help each other. Will you join us?  \nThroughout the week\, a variety of activities and campaigns will take place across the country\, including:  \n\nWearing the suicide prevention ribbon \n\n\n44 “Walk into the Light” walks throughout the Netherlands \n\n\nHappy Little Moments activation campaign \n\n\nSamen Sterk conferences (11 September) \n\n\nDaily webinars \n\n\nSuicide prevention trainings \n\n\nSchool tour \n\n\nMan in Mind Meet-up \n\n\nFundraising activities for the 113 Fund \n\n\nAwareness campaigns \n\n\nHundreds of initiatives in the Netherlands \n\n
