In 2025, the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) proudly marks their 65th anniversary. This special occasion will be commemorated at the 33rd World Congress, returning to Austria, the birthplace of IASP, from 10-13 June 2025 in the historic city of Vienna.

Prior to the main congress sessions, a series of pre-congress workshops will take place. These workshops are led by international experts and provide in-depth training and interactive learning on key areas such as suicide risk assessment, intervention strategies, postvention, and community-based approaches.
One of the standout events of the congress will be the Fireside Chat, generously sponsored by our mental health partner, Mental Health First Aid International. This engaging and informal session explores pathways to empower lower and middle-income countries (LMICs) in tackling the growing challenges of mental health and suicide distress. This intimate conversation will delve into strategies for adapting global programs to local contexts, fostering sustainable partnerships, and amplifying the voices of LMICs on the international stage. Attendees can look forward to an authentic dialogue that connects personal narratives with systemic change.
IASP is committed to supporting the next generation of suicide prevention leaders. The Early Career Pecha Kucha event, co-sponsored by IASP and #chatsafe, offers a dynamic and creative platform for early career researchers to share their work through fast-paced, visually engaging presentations. This high energy event provides a glimpse into the latest findings in the field and creates opportunities for learning and collaboration among a diverse audience of ECRs, mid-career, and senior researchers alike.
The congress will also feature a Special Interest Group (SIG) Networking Meeting, providing a unique opportunity to connect in person, exchange ideas, and foster new collaborations. Whether youβre already involved with a SIG or simply curious to learn more, this is your opportunity to meet the people behind the groups, explore shared interests, and discover how you can contribute to global suicide prevention efforts.
The congress will also offer a vibrant social programme to help participants unwind, connect, and experience the cultural richness of Vienna. Planned activities include cultural tours and wellness sessions.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors and partners whose generous support makes the 33rd IASP World Congress possible. Their commitment to advancing suicide prevention and mental health globally is vital to our shared mission.
