Cycle Around the Globe, organised annually by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), showcased an inspiring display of global solidarity and emerged as an outstanding success once again.
In honour of World Suicide Prevention Day, this year’s month-long campaign united over 2,000 participants from more than 40 countries, all dedicated to transforming the dialogue around suicide. Together, individuals and teams travelled more than 274,000 kilometers by walking, running, and cycling. The campaign’s main goal was to raise awareness about suicide prevention, with each kilometer logged serving as a powerful symbol that every action, no matter how small, can bring hope to those in need.
This year, more than 70 teams took on the challenge, including a mix of returning supporters and enthusiastic newcomers. Longstanding contributors such as GoPro Employees for a Cause, UP Inštitut Andrej Marušič, Kilometri za življenje, Telefono de la Esperanza, and the CCC Foundation played key roles in maintaining the momentum of this global effort.
Cycle Against Suicide once again joined the campaign, lending significant support and making a remarkable contribution through two major initiatives: the virtual ‘Cycle of Hope’ and the ‘Mizen to Malin’ Challenge. Their collective efforts added an impressive 51,000 kilometers to the overall total, demonstrating the power of coordinated action and commitment. Beyond their physical contributions, the team kindly donated €2,000, further reinforcing their dedication to suicide prevention and helping to amplify the reach and impact of the campaign.
In French Polynesia, the annual cycling tour hosted by Pirae Cyclisme in collaboration with SOS Suicide Polynésie Française returned once again to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. This year, approximately 130 enthusiastic cyclists took part in the scenic tour across Tahiti, bringing energy and a shared commitment to raising awareness about suicide prevention. The event not only celebrated the joy of cycling but also served as a powerful platform for community engagement, highlighting the importance of connection and hope in addressing mental health challenges across the region.
The campaign also highlighted numerous inspiring personal stories. Laura Pellegrino, participating for the third consecutive year in memory of her father, Richard, shared her motivation to create a world where seeking help is met with empathy and support. Her dedication raised $2,145 for the cause.
This year, a new team rose to the top of the online leaderboard. Team iAxel achieved an extraordinary milestone by logging more than 5,100 kilometers. Their impressive effort was dedicated to the memory of a cherished lost loved one.
While the campaign is free to participate in, we are deeply grateful to everyone who generously donated to support global suicide prevention initiatives. If you would still like to contribute, donations can be made here. Every contribution helps strengthen IASP’s mission of fostering a compassionate world, free from suicide.
IASP extends its gratitude to all who participated in Cycle Around the Globe 2025. The event’s success reinforces the message of hope and the power of collective action in changing the narrative around suicide. As the twelfth annual cycle comes to a close, it is clear that awareness and commitment to suicide prevention continue to grow worldwide. Thanks go to every participant, team, and supporter whose efforts have helped spread hope, raise awareness, and save lives.
IASP has exciting changes planned for the 2026 campaign. For those eager to get involved, stay tuned for updates, and for any engagement opportunities, please reach out to communications@iasp.info.
