Changing the narrative: Recognizing suicide risk in a stigmatized world

September 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Suicide is not the result of individual weakness – it is shaped by the world we live in.

In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day, this free, trauma-informed virtual workshop invites us to change the narrative around suicide by deepening our understanding of how risk is created, and how it can be reduced. We’ll unpack the hidden signs of distress in people who may appear “fine” and explore how stigma, silence, systemic barriers, and our own reactions can either increase or alleviate someone’s risk.

Through reflection and practical tools, this session challenges the myths we’ve been told and highlights how connection, validation, and community care are powerful resources for survival.

This is more than education – it’s a collective shift in how we see, support, and stand with those in pain.
