The Evolution of Mental Health in Construction – Building for the Future

September 3 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Over the past few years, we’ve made significant inroads into mental health awareness in the construction industry. We’re talking about it more openly. Attitudes are shifting, behaviours are improving, and understanding is growing. But the journey is far from over, with suicide rates in the sector still one of the highest.

Mental health isn’t just about raising awareness or signposting support. It’s about creating people-first cultures, improving daily work experiences, and designing environments where everyone can thrive.

So, where are we now? And where are we heading?

Workshop aims:

Join us for a strategic and interactive online workshop where we’ll explore the current landscape and future direction of mental health in construction. Together with your peers, you will:

  • Reflect on how far we’ve come.
  • Identify the key challenges and priorities we still face.
  • Share insights, strategies, best practices and experiences.
  • Identify, discuss and agree how to align your legal duty of care around stress management with bottom-line business performance.
  • Help shape the path forward to reduce suicide in the sector.

Who should attend:

Whether you’re a leader, HR professional, site manager, or advocate, this is your chance to help build a healthier, more supportive future for everyone in construction.

Host:

  • Martin Lockham, Head of Engagement, Mates in Mind.
  • Stephen Haynes, Wellbeing Consultancy Director, British Safety Council.

Please note:

  • If you are interested in this workshop, but do not work in construction, please email support@matesinmind.org, including the title of the workshop in the subject line and the sector you work in in the body of the email and we will put on additional events if/when we have sufficient registered interest.
  • If you would like to submit a question before the workshop, please send it to: support@matesinmind.org before 1pm on Monday 1 September and include the name of the workshop in the subject line.
  • We recommend early booking as places on this workshop are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
  • Once you have booked a place, please block the time out in your diary. You will receive an invitation to join a Teams call a week before the event.
  • We will also send an email 24 hours before the workshop to confirm your attendance. This is to allow those on the waiting list the opportunity to attend should you not be able to.
  • If this event is full, please add your name to the waitlist. We will email you 24 hours before the workshop if there are any remaining spaces. If we get sufficient numbers on the waitlist we will put on an additional session and will invite those on the waitlist to join it.
