Dr Lennart Reifels

Dr Lennart Reifels is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health and Community Wellbeing, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne, and Visiting Research Fellow at the Disaster Research Unit, Department of Political and Social Sciences, Free University of Berlin. He has extensive research and work experience in academic and national mental health service settings, encompassing research, direct service, and national management roles. His research program aims to tackle shared complex challenges with a view to advancing population mental health, suicide prevention and disaster risk reduction, including scholarly contributions in the fields of epidemiology, comparative policy, and mental health services research. Dr Reifels leads the operations of the Lifeways consortium in Australia with a national mandate to translate suicide prevention research into policy and practice. He regularly serves as scientific advisor to key national and international agencies.
