Move for Life is IASP’s global campaign for World Suicide Prevention Day, bringing people around the world together through physical activity to raise awareness of suicide prevention, promote wellbeing, and support life-saving work.

Whether you walk, run, cycle, or move in your own way, every step helps create hope and reminds us of the power of community and connection.

About Move for Life

Move for Life is a free, inclusive global event that runs each year from World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September) to World Mental Health Day (10 October).

For one month, individuals, families, workplaces, schools, community groups and organisations commit to moving in ways that suit them while helping to shine a light on suicide prevention.

The campaign is built on a simple idea: movement brings people together. By taking part, you’re helping to start conversations, reduce stigma, strengthen connections and show support for everyone affected by suicide.

Why Move for Life?

Suicide affects individuals, families and communities across every country.

While there is no single solution, we know that connection, compassion and open conversations can make a real difference. Physical activity also plays an important role in supporting mental wellbeing, helping people feel connected, resilient and engaged with their communities.

Move for Life combines these ideas into one global campaign that encourages people everywhere to move with purpose.

Together we can:

  • Raise awareness of suicide prevention
  • Encourage conversations about mental health
  • Support wellbeing through movement
  • Build stronger, more connected communities
  • Raise funds to support IASP’s work in suicide prevention

Everyone can take part

Move for Life has been designed so everyone can participate.

Whether you’re training for a marathon, walking the dog, cycling to work, joining a community class or taking five minutes to stretch, your movement counts.

This campaign isn’t about athletic performance.

It’s about creating moments of connection, improving wellbeing and standing together in support of suicide prevention.

Choose an activity you enjoy or one that suits your abilities.

There are no minimum distances and no competition, just a shared commitment to moving for a meaningful cause.
