Professor Cun-Xian Jia

Dr Cun-Xian Jia is a Professor at the Department of Epidemiology, Shandong University in China, and earned his PhD there in 2004. He is a Vice Director of Section of Injury Prevention and Control, Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and a former Vice Director of the Crisis Intervention Professional Committee of the China Mental Health Association.

Professor Jia has devoted his professional life to studying suicidal behavior since 2001. His research interest focuses on multifactorial exposures on risk for suicide or self-harm in different populations. He has led several research projects funded by China NSFC and USA NIMH, and a project as China PI funded by both China NSFC and Canada CIHR. Professor Jia has published more than 100 research articles related to suicide and self-harm upon data collected from various populations in China and from public sources around the world.

Professor Jia volunteers his time extensively. He is an editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology, Chinese Mental Health Journal, etc. He also evaluates grant applications for several research foundations and assesses manuscripts for many international or Chinese academic journals.
