Dr Marjan Fathi is an experienced health psychologist and suicidology researcher with over 30 years of expertise in mental health, suicide prevention, and global advocacy. Her work spans the development of groundbreaking research programs, innovative prevention strategies, and the exploration of multicultural risk and protective factors — including a suicide prevention strategy grounded in social determinants of health.
Dr Fathi has served as an Elected Member of the IASP Council of National and Regional Representatives (2019–2025) and held leadership roles within the Iranian Society for Suicide Prevention as both Secretary and Vice President (2014–2023). She is also a member of Partnerships for Life.
Dedicated to advancing mental health policy and fostering resilience on a global scale, Dr Fathi serves as the IASP Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) Co-ordinator, bringing a commitment to culturally responsive, evidence-based approaches to suicide prevention.
