Ryann De Souza

Ryann DeSouza, LMFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California, Virginia, and West Virginia.

With more than 16 years of experience providing psychotherapy, Ryann brings additional credentials as a certified Domestic Violence counselor, Expressive Arts Therapist, and smoking cessation counselor. Treatment is tailored to each person’s unique needs and may address depression, anxiety, anger, stress, trauma, domestic violence, parenting challenges, hoarding, LGBTQ+ concerns, and related issues.

Ryann has approximately 20 years of experience supporting autistic and intellectually disabled children, adults, and their families, along with culturally and ethnically diverse populations and individuals with severe developmental, behavioral, or physical disabilities.

Previous roles included facilitating weekly support groups, providing case management, and periodically conducting outreach presentations to other agencies on topics chosen by group members. Previously, under a Public Health grant, Ryann worked with East Bay continuation-school youth around tobacco and marijuana use. Many of those teens were navigating the justice system, teen parenting, or the foster-care system.

Earlier professional foundations include two years of research under a PhD student at Kent State University (credited on a paper published in 2004), experience with psychological testing, survey research, assessment interviews, and initial intakes, plus teaching a freshman orientation class at Kent State for two semesters.

Originally from Ohio, Ryann has been engaged in the creative arts since childhood. That early curiosity has grown into ongoing work across jewelry making, ceramics, painting, and custom fashion design. One long-term hope is to open a school of the arts to share that passion with others.
