For more than a decade, Cycle Around the Globe has brought people together from across the world to raise awareness of suicide prevention through physical activity. Since launching thirteen years ago, thousands of participants have cycled in support of a shared goal, starting conversations that can save lives. This year, we’re excited to announce the next chapter in the campaign’s journey. Cycle Around the Globe is becoming Move for Life.
This change comes directly from listening to feedback from participants, members and supporters around the world. Participants told us they wanted an event that better reflected how people choose to move and made everyone feel welcome, regardless of age, ability or preferred activity. By evolving into Move for Life, we’re making our World Suicide Prevention Day campaign more inclusive, accessible and representative of our global community.
The free, virtual event will continue to take place between World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September) and World Mental Health Day (10 October). Over the month, we invite people everywhere to get active in whatever way works for them while raising awareness of suicide prevention, supporting their own wellbeing and encouraging meaningful conversations about mental health.
Suicide affects individuals, families and communities in every country. While there is no single solution, we know that connection, compassion and open conversations can make a real difference. Physical activity can help improve wellbeing, build resilience and strengthen connections with others. Move for Life brings these ideas together, encouraging people across the world to move with purpose while supporting a cause that matters.
Move for Life is also a fantastic opportunity for workplaces, universities, schools, community groups and organisations to come together around a shared purpose. By creating a team, organisations can promote wellbeing, encourage meaningful conversations, strengthen connections and demonstrate their commitment to mental health while supporting suicide prevention worldwide.
We look forward to welcoming new and returning participants from across the globe as we begin this exciting new chapter together.
