The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) is proud to be the official partner of the 21st European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour (ESSSB21), taking place from 26-29 August 2026 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Held biennially, ESSSB is a notable international gathering in the field of suicide prevention. It brings together researchers, clinicians, and advocates from across Europe and beyond to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and advance understanding in the field.
The theme for ESSSB21, ‘Rethinking Suicide Research and Prevention,’ invites participants to reconsider how we understand and respond to suicide. Reflecting this spirit of openness and innovation, there are no predefined topics for abstracts; all work related to suicide and its prevention is welcome. Contributions are encouraged from across disciplines, including psychology, psychiatry, public health, sociology, philosophy, policy studies, anthropology, and many others.
The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) has collaborated for over 30 years with the European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour (ESSSB) advancing and sharing mutual goals by fully participating in its biennial conferences in support of delivering a global overview. IASP is proud to work with the ESSSB21 organisers as an official partner to the conference. By working together, IASP and ESSSB strengthen opportunities for knowledge exchange and professional development, advancing our collective goal of saving lives and promoting hope worldwide.
