The Menfulness Podcast Live
September 10 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Join us in conversation about one of the most important yet most stigmatised subjects in society.
Suicide Prevention is everyone’s business with 1 in 5 people experiencing suicidal thoughts at some point in our lives. With 16 per day in the UK taking their own lives and over two thirds being men, we owe it to each other to understand this subject much more, so that we can feel comfortable talking about it and look after those around us.
We’re joined by Victoria Taylor and Alex Lancaster of the Charlie Dallas Lancaster Foundation. Victoria and Alex along with several of Charlies’s friends and family have built a foundation in Charlie’s name, dedicated to preventing suicide by supporting people into talking therapy.
Jack Woodhams joins us both in his role as founder of Menfulness and his work in suicide prevention. ASIST trained, Jack spends much of his time helping people understand how to prevent suicide and communicate their challenges.
Frankie Sewell is a member of Menfulness who has lived experience of suicide, but who considers himself to now be in his ‘bonus years’ and keen to help others understand and come to terms with this most difficult subject.
Whilst we are aware that this can be a triggering subject for some, we also recognise that avoiding the subject is part of the problem. We intend to have a positive and hopeful conversation where we can learn from some of the people who are the closest to the subject. Mental Health First Aiders and several ASIST suicide trained volunteers will be supporting this event.
Thanks to the generous funding by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation we can offer this event and a delicious chicken pie and peas for only £5. (A vegan & vegetarian is available so please choose the correct ticket option).
The venue has a licensed bar which will open from 7pm and acohol free drinks will be available.
We hope you will join us for in conversation over a meal at this beautiful Hall, built by Joseph Rowntree over a hundred years ago to bring communities together, which it still does wonderfully today.
