IASP is a non-profit organisation for those interested and working in the field of suicide prevention. The organisation functions as a network for individuals (clinicians, scientists, crisis workers and volunteers, people who have lost someone to suicide, and community, national and international organisations). The organisation, with members in more than 50 countries, is recognized by and cooperates with WHO. IASP along with WHO initiated World Suicide Prevention Day, which is held every year on the 10th of September.

SOS Suicide is a French Polynesian NGO which has worked in the field of suicide prevention since 2001. SOS Suicide uses the WHO/Supre programme and the French National Strategy Against Suicide programme. SOS Suicide joined the Suicide Trends in At-Risk Territories (START) network under the coordination of the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP), a WHO Collaborating Centre, to undertake epidemiological studies and implement suicide prevention programmes. SOS Suicide operates a crisis phone line, organises National Suicide Prevention Day with French Union Nationale de Prevention du Suicide (UNPS) and World Suicide Prevention Day with IASP. In 2012 it opened a suicide prevention centre.
